Wish

I once had a fish

Who I named Wish.

His fins were a cerulean blue.

And he wiggled,

Wriggled

Flashed!

fluttered and flopped….

As only a fish could do.

Each sliver of scale was a dreamy white

His long tail a twilighted hue,

How he

shimmered and glided and glimmered and glowed…

Swirled

Lifted

Flickered

And Flew! — -As only a Wish can do.

One day he assumed the air was a sky

As he leapt over the life that bound him.

And to my dismay

His form lay

Cold.

On the Floor

When I found him

I once had a fish

Yes, I named him Wish.

Now his body lies dead,

Dry and gray.

.And all I have left is his

(Poor

Little

Bowl)

And the Water where I watched him play.
